Eligibility for University of Adelaide Research Scholarships

To be eligible for this Oceania fellowship, candidates must:

  • be qualified to participate in a full-time Higher Degree by Research (HDR) program at the University of Adelaide. not be currently receiving an RTP Scholarship, an overseas sponsored scholarship, or any other grant or scholarship from the Commonwealth Government designed to offset HDR expenses.
  • not be receiving an award, grant, or salary equivalent to the base stipend for the proposed degree (equivalent is defined as larger than 75% of the base stipend).
  • begin their research in Semester 1 (Major Round) or Semester 2 (Mid-Year Round).
  • keep their ‘international student’ status throughout their enrolment at the university. Applicants must notify the Adelaide Graduate Research School if they are granted a change visa sub-class or permanent residency in order to get information on any appropriate transition arrangements.
  • To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must provide evidence that they meet the minimal English language competence standards for direct entry by the application deadline.
  • When considering scholarship eligibility, qualifications in progress will not be considered unless they have been satisfactorily completed by the scholarship deadline. As of 1 January (Major Round) or 1 July (Mid-Year Round), presently enrolled students must have at least two years remaining (if applying for a Ph.D. scholarship) or six months remaining (if seeking a Master’s scholarship).
  • Indigenous candidates: Applicants must submit a formal “Confirmation of Aboriginality or Torres Strait Islander Heritage” to be eligible for the Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarship (Indigenous).
